ONE ARTIST. MANY MUSICAL WORLDS.

“Sergej Krylov transfixed the house, fiddling with the kind of effortless lyricism, liquid flow and mercurial tones that distinguish the best violinists playing at their best.”

02 / THE ARTIST

A life
in music.

The violin is the starting point.
The musical world is much wider.

Sergej Krylov’s life on stage moves between solo performance, chamber music and conducting. His repertoire reaches from the Italian Baroque to the music of our time.

Artistic director of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra since 2008, he brings the perspective of a violinist to the podium — and the imagination of a conductor to the violin.

Artist in Residence at the Stradivari Festival in Cremona, Krylov returns each year to the stage of the Museo del Violino.

His international collaborations include the London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic and Filarmonica della Scala, and conductors including Marin Alsop, Fabio Luisi and Mikhail Pletnev. He also performs chamber music and solo programmes devoted to Bach, Ysaÿe and Paganini.

Since 2012 he has taught violin at the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana in Lugano. His recordings include releases for Deutsche Grammophon, Sony Classical and DUX.

Antonio Stradivari.
A voice across the centuries.

Sergej Krylov plays the Stradivarius “Camposelice” (1710), on generous loan from the Sasakawa Music Foundation (formerly Nippon Music Foundation).

Named after the Duke of Camposelice, the violin passed through the hands of collectors and musicians in Europe and America before joining the Foundation’s collection in 2004.
