Following the input of the president of Rotary International Gordon McInally and as a testimony of the international motto of the Rotary year 2023/2024 “Let’s create hope in the world”, the Rotary Club of Cremona Monteverdi decided to focus its main service on the theme of disabilities in children and teenagers, with particular attention to neurodevelopmental disorders.
The decision was therefore made to support the project of Fondazione Occhi Azzurri Onlus (‘’Blue Eyes Foundation Onlus’’) and of its president Filippo Ruvioli, aimed to realize the new “Sinapsi CR² rehabilitation and recreational center” in Cremona, which is about to be completed and which will become a nationwide point of reference for Neurodevelopmental Diseases.
Going into the details of the service, the Rotary Club of Cremona Monteverdi within the new Sinapsi CR² Center will co-finance, on the one hand, the setting up of the room for music therapy through the purchase of musical instruments suited to the age group and particularities of users, and, on the other, the provision of individual or collective music therapy sessions.
It is estimated that around 200 hours of music therapy activities can be financed. The Club’s project also involves the organization of the activities to raise the community awareness and engagement on the topic of disability and diversity, also with a view of DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion), promoting Rotary’s actions in support of inclusion and openness towards the issues addressed by the project.
To financially support the service, the Rotary Club Cremona Monteverdi has organised a fundraising campaign through the sale of tickets for the charity concert for violin and piano which will take place in Cremona on the 22nd of March 2024 at the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi of Violin’s Museum, and which will see the world-famous violinist Sergej Krylov as the protagonist of the evening, accompanied on the piano by the Greek pianist Nefeli Mousoura.
The concert includes a program between Romanticism and historical twentieth century with music by César Franck, Manuel de Falla, Pablo de Sarasate.
Maestro Krylov, recently awarded honorary citizenship of the City of Cremona, will perform completely free of charge, thus adding higher value to the fundraising.
The use of the Auditorium will also be free of charge thanks to the intervention of a sponsor, who fully supports the initiative and wanted to contribute to the success of the service.
The Community Foundation for the Province of Cremona was also involved in the project.
