Dresdener Neueste Nachrichten Review: Krylov, Kitajenko, Dresden Philharmonic, Kulturpalast

Wolfram Quellmalz, November 29, 2019

“The Appearance of the Devil’s Violinist Dmitri Kitajenko and Sergej Krylov increased the fervour.

With a marked charm, almost edgy!

Kitajenko awoke the passion with Sergei Prokofiev’s II Violin concerto. Soloist Sergej Krylov gave his contribution, a huge one! With a marked charm, almost edgy he fenced through the score, exposed its fragile character, particularly favourable in the cantabile of the II movement, and he boosted till the insane virtuoso course of the finale.

Krylov’s willingness to take risks was particularly expressed in the slightly scratchy and impulsive style of his interpretation. There was no room for antics and show-off – and even more effective was his ingenious encore, Paganini’s Caprice Quasi presto (a minor) with violin (right hand) and guitar voice (left)”
