The Ceremony of Awarding Honorary Citizenship of Cremona

November 11, 2023 | STRADIVARIfestival, Honorary Citizen of Cremona

Museo del Violino Antonio Stradivari

Cremona, Italy

It was a memorable November part of the “STRADIVARIfestival” that took place on Saturday evening in the G. Arvedi Auditorium in Cremona, which before a concert with a varied and lively program hosted the ceremony of awarding honorary citizenship to the violinist Sergej Krylov: A Muscovite by birth, he arrived in Stradivari’s homeland years ago together with his father Alexander, luthier, and mother Ludmilla, pianist.

Although his concert career took him far away, the Maestro always returned to perform in Cremona, creating bonds that made him become an adopted and now honorary citizen, as commented by the Mayor Gianluca Galimberti. I was moved by Krylov’s thanks upon receiving the honour, which he dedicated to his parents with a smile towards his mother in the room and a thought for his late father whose violin he then played during the concert.
